England will play Wales in the group stage of Euro 2016.

Chris Coleman's Wales side are playing in a major tournament for the first time since the 1958 World Cup, and will take on England on June 16 in Lens.

Fans had widely hoped for England and Wales to be thrown together since it will be a mouthwatering fixture between the neighbours and fierce rivals.

But it is also throws up one of the toughest fixtures of the group stage: England are ranked ninth in the world and Wales 17th, the best-rated of all the sides in pot 4 of the draw.

Joining England in the group are Slovakia and Russia, with the latter providing the opponents for England's opening match on June 11.

Northern Ireland have been drawn in a group with Germany, and will also face Ukraine and Poland.

But it was the Republic of Ireland who had the worst luck of all, ending up in the undisputed group of death: they will play Belgium, the number one team in the FIFA World Rankings, and are also up against Italy and Sweden in the tournament.

Defending champions Spain, winners seeking a third successive European Championship win, are in the same group as Czech Republic, Turkey and Croatia.

Host nation France are up against Romania, Albania and Switzerland, with the match against Romania being the opening fixture of the tournament on June 10 in Paris.
